We have been busy here in C-7. Here is what we have been up to in class...
In Math... We have continued to learn about multiplication and division and their relationship. Students have also been practicing facts in order to become more fluent. We are currently working on Topic 6 which is using multiplication to help us find the area of figures.
In Social Studies...We have been learning bout the American Revolution. We have discussed some of the causes of the revolution including the Stamp Act, Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party. We are currently studying key battles and then we will discuss the important role different people played in the revolution.
In Writing... Students listened to and discuss characteristics of nonfiction texts about different animals. Each student chose an animal to research and they have begun reading about that animal. They will be taking notes on a planner before composing a written report.
In Reading... We have shifted toward nonfiction, and have been learning how to identify the main idea and supporting details in a text. Students have also begun reading chapter books in small groups.
In Daily 5... Students have continued to practice literacy skills including reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and handwriting both independently and in small groups.
