We have been busy here in C-7. Here is what we have been up to in class...
In Math... We completed Topics 6 and 7 on area and graphing, and we have been working on Topic 8. Students have been reviewing addition and subtraction strategies, as well as rounding.
In Science...We have been learning about weather and climate. Students have been looking at weather data from around the world and looking for patterns. We have also been learning about the tools meteorologists use to help them record data and forecast weather. We can't wait for meteorologist John Marshall's visit on March 3rd.
In Writing... Students completed their research report on an animal. The reports are currently on display in the hallway. We are now moving on to our unit on personal narratives. We will be reading examples of personal narratives, before writing our own.
In Reading... We have been reading a lot of nonfiction, and focused on identifying the main idea and supporting details. Next, we will be reading more fiction and looking for the theme, or central message in a text.
In Daily 5... Students have continued to practice literacy skills including reading comprehension, grammar, spelling, and handwriting both independently and in small groups.
