Physical Education
A comprehensive physical education program is an organized K–4 plan for teaching students information and helping them develop life skills that promote physical and emotional wellness. By combining physical fitness, movement and skill related concepts we will foster participation in physical activities that promote a healthy life style.
The Bridgewater Raritan Physical Education Curriculum is a sequential K–4 program that addresses the physical, emotional and social dimensions of physical education. Our curriculum parallels the New Jersey State Department of Education Core Content Standards for teaching physical education.
Our program is designed to motivate and assist students in developing an appropriate level of skill and health related fitness. Physical education provides the students with the opportunities to engage in various activities with the overall focus being flexibility, strength and cardio respiratory endurance. Our programs also focus on perceptual motor skills, manipulative skills, social and cooperative skills, movement exploration, physical fitness, and individual and team sports.
During grades K–4 students will have the opportunity to explore the following areas:
Movement Skills
Movement Concepts
Strategy
Sportsmanship, Rules, and Safety
Sport Psychology
Fitness and Physical Activity
