Milltown Running Program
Objectives:
- SWBAT improve cardiovascular endurance
- SWBAT set a realistic goal
Students will be learning about the running program. It is designed to give students motivation to exercise and transfer that into a lifelong love for exercise. During the running program, students will have 10 minutes to run as many laps around the track as they can. Each lap that they pass their teacher they will recieve a popsicle stick. At the end of 10 minutes the teacher will write down how many laps each student has run.
Goals:
1st grade - 10 laps
2nd grade - 10 laps
3rd grade - 11 laps
4th grade - 12 laps
Awards:
Feet and Stars:
If a student can reach the goal in 10 minutes - they will earn a "foot". They will put this on their running chain provided to them. On their 5th award they will earn a star! Note: once a student reaches their goal - those laps do NOT count towards a total foot.
Total Feet:
If a student runs less than the goal in 10 minutes - this number will go towards their total foot. If they can total up 25 laps they will also earn a foot! How many can you earn this year??
