- What is Math XL and how can it help my child?
In an effort to promote Algebra proficiency, all Algebra classes will use an online homework and assessment program called MathXL for School. This online program provides students with at-home help, examples, hints, study plans, and video tutorials relevant to classwork, homework, quizzes and tests. MathXL offers students immediate feedback on all assignments.
Within the window of each homework exercise, MathXL help features include (but are not limited to):
- Help me solve this. This interactive button helps the student solve the problem by breaking the problem down into small steps. Students click through these helps in order to reach the final answer. Once the answer is reached, MathXL will reset the problem to offer a similar exercise.
- View an example. This option allows students to see a similar exercise completely worked. This button will not reset the original exercise.
- Similar Exercise. This option is located at the bottom right of each exercise window. This button will allow students to retry a homework exercise until he/she is able to attain the correct answer.
When used properly, MathXL for School will tremendously benefit you and your student. Homework assignments will be assigned weekly. Students will have at least 45 minutes of class time each week to work on the assigned set of exercises. Students will be held responsible for completing the remainder of each weekly assignment outside of class time. If internet access is unavailable outside of school, students will be instructed to print the assignment and complete by hand to turn in to the teacher. The print option is located within each exercise window; students should select the entire assignment when printing.
