I.Course Name: Career Exploration and Awareness
Grade Level: 9-12

Prerequisites: none
II.DESCRIPTION: Career Exploration and Awareness is a semester academic elective course for students in grades nine through twelve. There is no prerequisite for this course. This course is designed to help students plan for future education and career choices, as well as staying abreast of the latest employment trends. Emphasis is placed on the process of researching career and educational opportunities, conducting a successful job search, understanding the impact of salary, benefits and taxes as well as appropriate conduct in the workplace.
Core units contain activities that utilize current trends, timely information, and work experiences to enhance the learning process.Activities are designed to encourage students to evaluate personal strengths, interests, and abilities to develop a personal career profile and portfolio. This course includes a mock interview project as part of a final performance assessment.
