This is my eighth year teaching, and my third year at Buckeye. I have an extensive background in Science, beginning with growing up on a farm. We have always owned animals, including horses, cats, dogs, rabbits, fish, and many other species.
My love for animals continued when I began working with Horses Helping the Handicapped and at vet clinics during my summers in high school. I attended Northwestern State University and received my Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology and worked for over 6 years in vet clinics. I returned to NSU to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with a minor in Psychology. I completed my thesis on Parental Involvement and earned my Master’s Degree in the Art of Education. I have returned to NSU to receive my second Master's in Gifted Education.
My husband of 14 years and my two daughters,11 and 10 years old, and my 2 year old son, also share my love of animals. Because of this we currently have 4 cats, 2 dogs, a 2 dozen chickens, and 2 roosters. The classroom also has a bearded dragon, a chinchilla that the students voted for, 2 Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, and a new addition of a hedgehog.
