Everyone in the classroom will work together as a team to achieve our learning goals.  We will follow the SOAR expectations of the school wide PBIS system.  Our actions will reflect the words that SOAR stands for: Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful. We will be learning and practicing these behavior traits the first few weeks of school.  In order to create a positive learning environment, we will be researching the 12 powerful words and the UNRA(A)VL strategy. We will be discovering core subjects through engaging and hands on participation. Please ask your children about this terms daily.  Listen to all they have to tell you about the “college” words that they will be learning this year!

To encourage students in the classroom, SOAR behaviors will be recognized withindividual, group and class rewards.  Individual students will be praised for their good behavior using a clip system with rewards each day for positive behavior. Each and every student will start the day on “Ready to Learn” with the ability to either move up or down the chart for positive or negative behavior. Students who are on the top of the chart will receive a special treat for the day!  Positive and productive behavior is the key to a successful classroom. These must be taught and practiced to have a classroom encouraging to young learners.  Rules and procedures will be created by students and expectations will be high each and every day. I have included a visual of the chart used in class with an explanation of the system.

Here is what our chart will look like:
