Parent Information
Everything you need to know about
Mrs. Denys Pre-K Class
What to bring to school:
-
A backpack (large enough for large Pre-K projects and regular size folder, but not too big to weigh little ones down)
-
A complete change of clothes (including socks) - labeled with child’s name
-
Pull Ups and wipes (if needed) - labeled with child’s name
-
Snack (see below for more info.)
Attendance:
If your child needs to be absent for any reason, please email:
[email protected] or call the school at: (908) 526-6440. Please include your child’s name, grade, teacher, and reason for absence. We kindly ask that you also email us so we are aware of any absences.
Snack:
-
Students need to bring their own daily snack every day. Snacks should be small and of nutritious value. NO PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, or SESAME snacks will be allowed.
Comfort:
The clothes preschoolers wear should be simple, clean, sturdy, and easy to pull off and on. We will be very active during our days, so clothes should allow for this. Also, we will go outside whenever possible, so children should wear weather appropriate items as well as sneakers for safety, especially on P.E. days. We will try to keep your child as clean as possible, but in our play, we sometimes get a little messy, so please dress your child in play clothing. Please remember to label any items that might get separated from your child, such as scarves, hats, and mittens.
Parent Involvement:
Throughout the year, we will contact families to come in and share about their home life, work life, or a variety of topics based on current learning units. At home, you can support classroom activities by regularly asking your child about their day, going over returned work and projects together, and checking in on the classroom and therapist websites to keep up to date with what your child is learning.
Birthdays:
We love celebrating each child’s special day in the classroom. Due to state and district policies, however, no food is allowed to be served for school birthdays. We will send a note home before your child’s birthday that will involve sending a special 'Birthday Bag' for your child only.
Drop Off/Pick Up:
The buses arrive at the back of the preschool wing at 8:25 am and depart from the front of the school at 11:15 am. At 12:15 pm, the PM class arrives at the front of the school and departs at 2:45 pm from the back of the preschool wing.
If you would like to bring your AM student to school, please follow the line of cars in the back parking lot by the big playground. A teacher or assistant will help your child out of the car.
If you would like to bring your PM student to school, please park in a space at the front of the school at 12:15 and walk your child to meet the class. For the safety of all of the students, we may not come to the car and get your child.
If you arrive after school has begun (8:35 am or 12:25 pm), the doors will be locked. Please park in front of the school and escort your child to the office and sign them in. The secretary will call me to come meet your child.
When picking up your child, for any reason, you must sign them out. If you need to pick up your child early, you must buzz into the office and sign your child out. I will bring your child down to meet you. If picking up at 11:15 am, please wait out front and sign your child out on the teacher’s clipboard when the class comes out. If you are picking up your PM child at 2:45pm, you must go to the all purpose room to sign out your child. One of the teachers or assistants will walk your child down to meet you.
Communication:
Communication is also a key part of staying involved. When you have a question or feel there is information that is important for us to know, such as an oncoming cold, or sleepless night, please write me a note in your child’s folder, or send us an email. I will also communicate any important notices through your child’s folder.
Contacting Me:
If you need to contact me, write a note or call at Adamsville (908) 526-6440, or email:
I will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
I look forward to a wonderful year!
Mrs. Ruth Denys
