MissionStatement

History is a record of our past.  When teaching or studying history, "history" expands to encompass the process of studying, writing, and applying what we know about the past to broaden our understanding of the world and our place in it.

It is my endeavor as a teacher to create a learning environment for my students which will endow them with the ability to analyze and interpret information about the world around them through the study of history.  This is a basic principle of their continued citizenship and increasing responsibility in the civic forum of our nation in the coming years as they prepare to exercise their full rights.  As a requirement of their civic duty they must be able to understand the present in order to make decisions for the future.  To understand the present they must be able to access the experiences of the past and history offers a catalog of those experiences.  It is my goal to make those experiences accessible with an understanding of their current level of ability in order for them to, in the future, participate fully in the civic affairs of our nation thus fulfilling the promise of public education.
