Vocabulary 2014 - 2015
- All vocabulary words listed below are SAT words. These words will build the students higher level vocabulary.
- Many students will take the SAT in 7th grade and this instruction will help them succeed in that endeavor.
- In addition, the increased vocabulary will help students to become better readers of complex text and better writers with new higher level words available to them.
- Students will learn meanings and spellings for all words, complete LINCS tables (to help familiarize them with meanings), and write sentences, a short story, or a poem for each list that shows their understanding of how to correctly use the new vocabulary in context.
- Spelling tests and quizzes on words will be on Fridays. The students will usually take the first week to learn the words and how to spell them and pronounce them correctly. The students will then use the second week to review the meanings and practice using the words before taking a quiz on all words.
- Students will be given prior notice before a spelling or vocabulary quiz so they have time to study and review.
