Journal entries 2014 - 2015
The purpose of the journal is for students to practice thinking and responding to writing tasks weekly. All journal entries will be kept in a folder.
Journal entries will always be due on Fridays. They may be completed ahead of time if the student so desires.
- Students should write one paragraph or more for each entry. This should be a minimum of 5 sentences, although it may always be longer if the student wishes to write more.
- Students should always try to explain their thoughts in writing clearly and using details for support.
PLEASE NOTE - If the journal/folder is misplaced students may write and turn in a response on a separate sheet of paper for full credit. Journal entries may be typed if the student wishes to do so. The journal entry number must appear on each entry.
Grading is as follows:
- Complete entry shows thought and effort (5 sentences or more) and turned in on time: 20 points
- Incomplete entry (less than 5 sentences), shows lack of thinking or effort, or one day late: 10 points
- Incomplete and late entry or no entry turned in: 0 points
