From the Music Room…
2021-2022
Dear Parents,
I am so happy to share with you that we will be learning recorders this year! As many of you know, I will be on maternity leave beginning in January but I will be leaving your students in Mrs. Williams capable hands! She is looking to begin recorders right away so here is a little information you should know…
Students typically learn recorders during their 3rd and 4th grade years here at Adamsville. We were not able to play them last year due to Covid 19 restrictions but both 3rd and 4th graders will be receiving their recorders and beginning their recorder studies this January, 2022
Bridgewater-Raritan only provides one recorder and book per child so please remind your child to take good care of it. If for any reason your child breaks or loses his/her recorder or book it will be their responsibility to replace it.
The information provided in the book is also available online with some extra online perks like instrumental accompaniments and practice tracks to give your child additional support while learning their new instrument. It does require a special code. The code may only be used on 2 devices so please decide which devices are the most appropriate for their practice use. If your child divides their time between two households it might be helpful to have a device at each home that is programmed with their code (Please keep in mind that this program does not work on cell phones or a Nook).
This book also comes with a CD to help them practice. A set of CD’s has been placed in the school library for them to take out on their library day. If your child would like to purchase their own copy of the CD they may do so by contacting Macie publishing company. I am providing you with the replacement information below. The CD’s are an excellent motivator so please encourage your child to take advantage of them if the online option doesn’t work for you!
I am attaching online instructions as well as a letter of agreement that states that you and your child have been informed of the recorder policies and procedures. It states the classroom expectations in regard to practice and care for the materials. Please take the time to go over this with your child and return this form on their next music day.
The secret to musical success is regular focused practice time so please help your child carve out 10 minutes a day to develop their recorder skills. Thank you for your help in this new facet of your child’s music education. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ladson

My Recorder Contract
I hereby declare that I am eager to learn my brand new recorder! In order to learn it to the best of my ability I agree to practice it daily. I also agree to make my backpack a home for my recorder and my book. When I am finished practicing my recorder I will put it and my book directly into my backpack! My recorder will make no detours. It will not lead the life of the homeless by living under the couch or under my bed or behind my toy box. My recorder and my book will be able to be found in my backpack at all times. If I come to music class without my recorder for three times, I understand that I will be unable to bring my recorder home. It will be forced to live in a basket in the music room with Mrs. Ladson and is to be visited only on music days (a very lonely life for a recorder whose sole desire is to be played). I understand the full terms of this agreement and I will abide by it!
