“Our task today is to provide an education
for the kinds of kids we have,
not the kind of kids we used to have, or want to have,
or the kids that exist in our dreams.”
Hello, EFS Families! I am thrilled to be embarking on my 28th year at Essex Fells School. I began my professional teaching career right here upon graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Sociology from The College of New Jersey in 1999. I've obtained two Master's degrees, as well. My first field of study at Rutgers University Graduate School of Education was in Reading. I then focused on Educational Leadership at Montclair State University.
After 17 years as a classroom teacher in the 1st, 4th, and 3rd Grades, I transitioned into my current role as the Lead Teacher and Coordinator of I&RS and Section 504. I enjoy working with my colleagues to provide each learner what they need to reach their potential. My time working alongside the students across all the grades continues to be the most rewarding aspect of my position. Becoming an educational partner with families ensures success for our students. I also serve as a Student Council co-advisor.
Outside of school, I find joy reading, caring for my flower garden, and spending time with my husband, Hugh, and our eighth grader, Cole. Whether we are fishing, snowboarding, or relaxing on a beach, we enjoy being in the great outdoors.
