A Little Bit About ME.......
I want to take a few moments to introduce myself.
I want to take a few moments to introduce myself. My name is Shari Stewart and I will be your child’s First Grade teacher this year. This is my thirteenth year at Cape Elementary- 5 years in Kindergarten and this will be my eighth year in First Grade. But, this is my 28 year of teaching. I relocated to Florida from New York twelve and a half years ago. After living in New York all my life, I can honestly say that I have adjusted to the differences and I love the weather – as long as I still get to go, visit and play in the snow every winter.
My teaching experience has been in Kindergarten through second grade so I feel that I bring with me a lot of teaching experience that will help me to better meet the needs of your child.
I have two children who are 24 and 26. Yikes!!! I still remember the day I sent my own children off to First Grade and all the questions, anxiety, sadness and even excitement that I felt on the first day. I especially remember that day with my daughter, who was the first child to “leave the nest” and begin her educational journey. After getting her on the bus for the first time, I got into my car and had just enough time to reflect on her for a few moments. Then, I had to pull myself together, wipe away my tears and take a deep breath before pulling into the teacher’s parking lot at my school and prepare to greet a new class of children. Now, she is recently engaged, bought a home and is working as a medical technician in a local doctors office, living on her own and finishing college in the nursing program. My son bought a home a few years ago and is taking on all the challenges of being a homeowner at 24. All I can say is….Oh my goodness can I possibly be that old! Once again I wonder “Gosh, where did the time go?” My dad told me when my children were very young and I was at home with two children 14 months apart, with dirty diapers and constant messes, to cherish every moment with them because the time would go fast. He was so correct!! So, please know that whether this is your first child off to First grade or your last, I do understand what you may be feeling. I am excited about the opportunity to be working, teaching and learning with your child this year.
