The following is my best school supply list that I can provide at this time. Much of our independent work will be done on Google Classroom, Flipgrid, Kami and other ENGAGING AND INTERACTIVE platforms. Learning these platforms will be our focuse the first few weeks of school. After that, we will begin to get a better idea of what materials will surely be needed. Thanks for your understanding!
*NOTE: We will NOT be sharing materials this year.
Basic Stuff (For all Engineering/Math/Science classes)
1) Headphones/ Earbuds!!! This is really important you will use them OFTEN!
2) For Math-
- A notebook of sorts (This could be a small 3-ring binder, "zerbra journal," etc. Whatever works for you). You will need a notebook of sorts. You can choose. We will use this most days, taking notes, making drawings or documenting math models for our work.
3) For Engineering- We will have an engineering project going on nearly everyday, the entire year. We use these projects as tools to help us build VERY important, real-world problem solving and critical thinking skills, your own creativity, to gain a greater understanding of "how stuff works," and to explore some current topics you may see in the news and online. In order to develop these skills, we often use the Engineering Design Process and Design Thinking to work out solutions and overcome challenges. Typically, I provide you with a small notebook for each project but this year, you may have to have your own that can hold many projects.
- Something like one of these journals should do it but I will try my best to get you my normal, small engineering booklets.
4) For Science- We will do many experiments and explorations this year. You will be noting your processes, results and explainations. Much of this documenting may end up being digital so don't spend a ton on a notebook.
- Something like one of these journals should do it.
* Pencils (make sure you have extra)
* Favorite color pen (have a back-up)
* Small box of markers for the math models we will often make
* Dry-Erase markers for in the school classroom. (Not needed for home.)
* Extra white paper for scrap work while your at home.
* A pencil case to keep all of your stuff for class in. This likely will travel with you back and forth to school while we are in the hybrid model.
* A highlighter
* Small pair of scissors
* Extreemly sturdy homework folder (will go home and back each day). Those plastic ones are the best.
*NOTE: At this point, during this year, I truely do not know how much use this folder will actually get. We are going to try to do as few actual paper assignments as possible.
* Possibly some sticky notes. Your call. I have become a prolific sticky-note user and often end up using one for each prolem I am modeling/working on.
