Welcome to House 8-2 Social Studies

Please look in your email for an invite to our Google Classroom. I will be using Google Classroom for all communication and assignments.  

 

On-Line Textbook-  www.hmhco.com/ed use your wtschools email log in and password.

 

 

8th grade we start with a quick review of content covered in 7th grade. We begin our first unit with Westward Expansion, move to the Industrial Revolution, investigate the causes of division and end second marking period with the Civil War and Reconstruction. 

The second half of the year we will focus on Civics, which will include a project. 

 

Each student will be assigned a weekly current event day during second and third marking periods, this helps us to learn about what is going on around us and great practice presenting to a group.

 

In class as we learn about the history of the U.S. we will also be working on note taking and study skills.

 

For our Social Studies class you must have a blue or black ink pen, I do not accept work in pencil! You will also need a notebook and a folder. IF you like to type notes, you won't really need a notebook, but if you like to write out your notes by hand have a notebook. You should also have headphones that work with your chromebook.
