Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to first grade!  I am Mrs. Christine Draghi, and I will be your child’s first grade teacher this year at Cucinella.  Whether this is your first child, your last baby, or somewhere in between, I know that the beginning of a new school year can be both exciting and a little bit scary!

Together, we can make this a happy, exciting, fun school year for your child.  I know that every child is different and unique, and I will do all that I can to make sure that the transition to first grade is smooth for each of the students in our class family.  My favorite thing about teaching first grade is seeing how much the children grow - not only physically, but also in their academic skills!  I love to help grow readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists.  I believe that social-emotional learning is important, and will incorporate many lessons into our morning meeting and social studies time.

I would like you to help me prepare for your child’s first grade experience, since you are his/her first teacher.  I truly appreciate the insights and knowledge that only a parent has, and I hope that you will take a little time to share your child’s unique qualities with me.  Please click the "2024 Back-to-School Parent Survey" link and take a few minutes to fill out the survey.  I am looking forward to understanding how you see your child as both a learner and a person.  Thank you so much – I am excited to work together to make first grade a great experience for your child!

Please review the first grade supply list and gather the necessary supplies for the first day of school.  Thank you so much for supporting your child and our classroom.

I am looking forward to meeting you and to working together to make first grade the best possible experience for your child!  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].

                                                                             Sincerely,

                                                                             Christine Draghi
