Excercise
April 16, 17- Heat transfer. This is much like the specific heat problems. We will be getting into Heating curves next week.
Excercises:
Acids and Bases - SLOWLT- Acid and base strength, naming, Intro to titrations. Assignments are embedded in some of the readings.
Stds covered:
SCI.9-12.5.2.12.A.f - [Content Statement] - Acids and bases are important in numerous chemical processes that occur around us, from industrial to biological processes, from the laboratory to the environment.
SCI.9-12.5.2.12.A.6 - [Cumulative Progress Indicator] - Relate the pH scale to the concentrations of various acids and bases
Readings Acids and Bases. April 20 and 21

April 24, and Monday 27
Use readings from day 1 Acids and Bases.
April 28 and 29
pH and pOH.
Readings Find the link below and check out the khan academy. You should be able to understand the pH scale and calculate pH based on molarity of a solution.
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uKtNlPLPZw
April 30 and 31
pH and pOH continued. The strengths of acids and bases. Assignment is due day 7!!!!!
Continue from Day 13
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoM1nzYFy8k
May 4 and 5 Continued pH an pOH. Next week we get into Titrtions
pH Intro Basic Math.pdf . Calculate pH an pOH and vice versa.
May 6 and 7 pH an pOH.
May 11 and 12. We are going to start looking at the strenght of solutions. This is called "molarity". Molarity is moles/Liters of solution. Remember that moles is equal to the number of grams divided by the molar mass.
example: What is the molarity of a solution when 3 moles of NaCl is dissolved in 5.6 Liters of water........
Molarity = 3 moles/ 5.6 Liters ..............= 0.53 molar. Just remember that some questions do not give you a quantity in moles, it may be in grams!!!!!!!!!!!
May 13 and 14. Continue with molarity. This will get us ready for titrations next week.
Molarity_Problems_Worksheet.pdf
May 26-29. This week I want to focus on getting assignments in. Please look on Genesis and see if there are any 0's or blanks. If this is the case, please get these assignments in. If you think that you handed in assignments and you still have a blank or a 0, please let me know. If any people are still struggling with the material you must let me know. We can set up a zoom meeting. Next week I will be posting some kind of cummilative assessment for the year.
June 1 - June 5. No work this week. If you have a book at home, please return it to the library before June 15th or it will become an obligation. Please contact me if you need anything.
Do not continue until further notice.
May 18th through the 22nd. Acid and Base Titration. Neutralization reactions.
Directions: Find the video link below and complete the worksheets associated with it.
Formula used for these assignments. Volume of acid x Molarity of acid x #H's on acid = Volume of base x Molarlity of base x #OH's on base.
