1. Attend Class; Absences will put you behind and cause you to miss important information. Find a friend who would be willing to inform you of any work you missed when absent. When absent, check the hanging folder in the front of classroom and get the work that you missed. It is important to make up all work due to absences.

2. Bring Something to Write With to Class Everyday.

3. Bring laptop and headphones to class every day. Don't forget your chargers! :)

4. Don't be Afraid to Ask Questions and Feel Free to See Me for After School Help if You Feel You Could Use it.

5. Don't fall behind on Homework or Classwork

6. Don't wait until the day of a test or quiz to study.

7. Limit time out of class (lav breaks, trips to the office/nurse)

8. KNOW YOUR LITERARY ELEMENTS! I teach them for a reason and they will pop up a lot on tests and quizzes.

9. Read the Assigned Material and When I Read to You, Make sure You are Following Along.

10. Take Notes ON YOUR OWN. While I do give Class Notes (Cornell Style) often, it wouldn't hurt to jot down a few notes as we read. I am a huge supporter of FLASHCARDS.

11. Listen to the Lectures. I often give hints/clues to certain questions on tests/quizzes.

12. Write Neatly. Appearances Count. A Sloppy Paper makes a Horrible Impression.

13. Use Spark Notes and other Online Websites for the Purpose they Are Intended. Feel free to use them for clarification. They can really help you, but don't just read these websites and expect to know all about the book/story.

14. Don't Plagiarize or Copy Work. All work should be YOUR OWN or you will receive a zero. (If you give your work to someone for them to copy, you will also receive a zero...)

15. Do Your Research Paper when I Assign It. Don't Fall Behind on it, and Make Sure you Turn one In. It Counts as Multiple Test Grades and is Considered a MAJOR PROJECT.

16. Class Participation Makes A Huge Difference. I really appreciate it when students join in on classroom discussions.

17. Come to Class with a Positive Attitude and Be Ready to Learn. :)
