My philosophy of education, for the most part, is existentialist.
I believe that a good, solid foundation in the basics is absolutely essential for all people.
I do not believe that a university education is appropriate or even necessary for everyone.
I do believe that a post-secondary technical school would better serve some people. Even on-the-job training
is a very good choice for some careers.
I believe that only you have the right to make choices concerning your future.
Therefore, I also believe that you are solely responsible for the consequences of any and all choices you make.
You make wrong choices; you must accept the negative results that will surely come.
You make good choices; you will enjoy the benefits that you will reap.
I really don’t want to hear excuses; I want to see results.
I am open to listening to you. Sometimes just talking to an open ear helps you overcome some of your woes.
I am sympathetic, but we all have imperfections and we have to learn to get over them.
At the moment, you can’t choose your family, where you live, or your economic situation, but you can control
how you let them affect you.
You can control with whom you associate.
You can control what you do with your free time.
I am here for you. If you do have a reason for not being ready, talk to me one-on-one. You’d be surprised how kind and understanding I am.
I have high expectations of you because I know that within each and every one of you, there is the God-given ability to learn; you have what is needed to meet the challenge, but you have to have the GANAS………the DESIRE.
I will try to provide you with extrinsic motivation to stir you on, but at the same time I hope that intrinsic desire
develops within you.
Nevertheless, you will have to choose to apply your own effort, struggle through to understanding, dig in when
the going gets tough, and not flee into apologies, excuses, or give up.
