A brief history of me.
I retired in May 2006 with 25 years of teaching science, math, and English, but I returned to teaching in August 2007.  I have taught at Henry HS, Brindisi HS, and Abbeville HS.  Currently, I am in my 30th year of teaching.  I am teaching Physical Science at North Vermilion HS.  I am certified in General (Physical) Science, biology, chemistry, math, English, English as a Second Language, Computer Science, and Computer Literacy.  I have taught all the sciences from 7th grade through physics and Biology II, English I, ESL, 7th & 8th grade math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Consumer (Financial) Math, Allied Health, ACT Prep, and World Geography.

I moved to Brindisi, Italy, in 1988 and taught at San Vito dei Normanni Air Force Station, a NATO base that has since closed.  I taught there 4 years.  I met a very nice Italian man, whom I later married.  His name is Angelo.  We moved back to Abbeville in 1992.  We have one son, Alessio, who is a 2011 graduate of Abbeville HS and is presently a freshman at LSU.  Yes, we do speak Italian at home sometimes and in public, especially when we don't want anyone to know what we are saying.  Sadly, I lost my best friend and mate for life on March 15, 2008.  As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I strongly believe that I will greet him at his resurrection.  Until then, I cherish my memories of our short union.

I really do love teaching.  I feel like I'm still playing school just as we all did as children.  I have much experience and knowledge that I willingly share with my students.  I encourage parents to keep after their children to take in as much knowledge as they can while in high school.  It is said that people today change jobs as much as 7 times in their lives.  Therefore, one never knows where one will be in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years down the line.  Therefore, don't fall for that old worn-out and useless thought:  When will I ever use this?     Education is a lifetime activity that does not stop when one graduates from high school.
