Physical Education Grading

HOW THE GRADE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS EVALUATED


Every student begins the Marking Period with the grade of 100. The grade will be divided into three

areas:

Attire, Attendance and Participation – 80 Points

Cognitive and Fitness testing – 10 Points

Affective (Full Value Contract) – 10 Points

 

A Maximum 12 Absences are permitted in Physical Education; exceeding twelve will result in LOSS OF CREDIT!

 

POINT DEDUCTIONS


(-6)Six Points will be deducted for:    

  •      Not changing for class and not participating (Power School Code: NCNP)
  •      Cutting Class (PowerSchool Code: C)

 (-4)Four pointswill be deducted from your uniform grade for:

  •     Wearing improper gym shirt (PowerSchool Code: NCP)
  •     Wearing improper gym pants (PowerSchool Code: NCP)

 (-3)Three points will be deducted from your participation grade for:

  •      Failure to participate (PowerSchool Code: B)
  •      Unsportsmanlike behavior (PowerSchool Code: B)
  •      Insubordination- failure to properly follow directions (PowerSchool Code: B)
  •     Changing clothes in gymnasium (PowerSchool Code: B)
  •     Creating an unsafe environment for other students (i.e. misuse of equipment)

(-2)Two points will be deducted from your participation grade for:

  • Lack of effort (PowerSchool Code: B)
  • Using cell phone in class (PowerSchool Code: B)
  • Poor sportsmanship- Intentional (PowerSchool Code: B)
  • Cursing 2nd offense (PowerSchool Code: B)
  • Leaving classroom without permission (PowerSchool Code: B)
  • Using electronic devices in class (i.e. I-Pod, MP3 player) (PowerSchool Code: B)

 


(-1)
One point will be deducted from your grade for:

  • Food or drink in locker room/gymnasium (PowerSchool Code: O)
  • Poor Sportsmanship- unintentional (PowerSchool Code: O)
  • Cursing- 1st offense (PowerSchool Code: O)
  • Not on time for attendance (PowerSchool Code: O)

 

 

A student can earn one to three extra credit points for:

1. Make up class – 3 points (make ups are conducted Tuesday after school, please see instructor for more info)

2. Showing extra effort assisting the teacher

3. Being a class leader
