WELCOME to 6th Grade Social Studies!

This is the homepage for Mrs. Ohnsorg's 6th Grade Social Studies class. We are going to have a year filled with fun, exploration, and learning!  The purpose of this course is to journey into the realm of ancient civilzations and cultures.  As the school year progresses we will examine a wide variety of topics as we cover the curriculum.  Beginning with the ideas of what is history and the origins of early civilizations. We will start with examining the transitions humans experienced from the Paleolithic Age (Old Stone Age) to the Neolithic Age (New Stone Age) and the formation of the first agricultural villages (farming).  We will then study the four ancient river-valley civilizations --  Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China -- as well as Greece and Rome, where they are in the world, major accomplishments that occurred there and significant figures from each that helped shape history. For a more detailed overview of the 6th grade social studies curriculum visit the Bridgewater-Raritan School District Homepage.
