Dear Families,

 

I'm so excited to welcome your child to third grade! I’m looking forward to getting to know each student and all of the interests, stories, and personalities they’ll bring to our classroom. I’ve also had the pleasure of teaching some older siblings over the years, so it’s always nice to see familiar family names again. This year, we’ll be learning and growing together in Room 117.

 

Our first day of school will be Tuesday, September 8th, and it will be a full school day. Each day, we will take a short snack break, so please send your child with a healthy snack and a water bottle.

 

Our class will have Art on Mondays, Digital Thinking (Tech.)  on Wednesdays, Music on Thursdays, and Library on Fridays. We will also have P.E. (Gym) Monday through Thursday, so please make sure your child wears sneakers on those days.

 

To help us get to know one another, the children will have the opportunity to share something about their summer or something special about themselves, such as their family, pets, hobbies, or interests. They may bring in a picture, drawing, postcard, small souvenir, or favorite book to help them share. If they would feel more comfortable, they can also write down what they would like to say and bring it with them. Since we will be doing this activity over several days, there is no need to have anything ready for the first day.

 

All of the supplies your child will need throughout the school year will be provided. If you would like to contribute to our classroom, items such as pencils, dry erase markers, and boxes of tissues are always appreciated. The one item we ask students to bring, if possible, is a personal pair of headphones. Please place them in a labeled bag so they are easy to keep track of, as we will use them often during classroom activities.

 

I also have a little update of my own to share. Over the summer, I got married! It was definitely the highlight of my summer vacation. I will be going by my married name, Mrs. Ruiz.

 

I am looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, discovery, and plenty of fun along the way. Thank you in advance for your support and partnership. I can’t wait to see the children’s smiles, hear their stories, and welcome them into Room 117 on our very first day!
