12th Grade Health ~ An Overview
The twelfth grade health-education program consists of planned learning experiences in Families and Partnerships; Parental Responsibilities and Fetal Development; Drug Addictions and Interventions; Injury Prevention, Safety, and CPR; and Comprehensive Final Exam.
In Families and Partnerships, you will examine societal influences and the factors which weaken or strengthen familial relationships, while also creating a realistic personalized budget to support strong financial health.
While in Drug Addictions and Interventions you will correlate societal impact of drug use as well as injury, illness, and death caused by drug use. You will also explore methods and strategies that lead to the prevention and secession of drug use.
The Injury Prevention, Safety, and CPR portion of the course provides you specific knowledge which can reduce your personal risks to many common injuries while also learning skills to act safely in an emergency. Through a variety of personal and interpersonal structured classroom experiences, you will become better equipped to identify, prevent, prepare for, and respond appropriately to common dangers in the home, various life-threatening situations, and large scale incidents (Disasters) - both man-made and natural.
Studies in Parental Responsibilities and Fetal Development will address fetal development from conception to birth; healthy prenatal care guidelines and child birth options; common birth defects and prevention strategies; as well as physical, social, emotional, cultural, and legal issues related to pregnancy termination. Furthermore, this unit examines the roles and responsibilities of parents and the factors that influence parental decisions.
