To experience success students should...

  • Check Google Classroom daily,
  • Report to class in a timely manner,
  • Contribute actively to in-class discussions,
  • Be respectful of fellow classmates, and
  • Complete assignments on time and as instructed.

 

Course Requirements

  1. Attendance: Credit will be lost on the fourth (after the third) absence of the quarter.
  2. Cutting Class: Credit will be lost on the second cut class.
  3. Arrival to Class: Failure to arrive prior to the beginning of the period will result in disciplinary action.
  4. Student ID Cards: Failure to display a BRHS ID will result in disciplinary action.

 

Submission of Assignments

  1. Communication: Students should communicate extraordinary circumstances to Mr. Filipski prior to the event or at their earliest convenience to request special consideration to exempt themselves from these requirements.
  2. Late Assignments ( May be turned in up to 5 days late with a 20% loss of credit for each day late.
  3. Late Projects (=100 points): May be turned in up to 10 days late with a 10% loss of credit for each day late.
  4. Electronically submitted assignments/tests: Are due at the specified time & date regardless of your presence or absence from class. Failure to mark an assignment as complete/done in Google Classroom will result in the complete loss of all points for the assignment.
  5. Paper assignments/tests: May be turned in/taken on the first day after an absence for full credit.

 

 Classroom Rules

  1. Golden Rule: Treat others the way that you want to be treated.
  2. Honesty: Tell the truth, always.
  3. BRHS rules: Follow all school rules and district policies.

 

Classroom Procedures

  1. Assigned Seat: To be marked present - Sit in your assigned seat until attendance is complete then move freely around the room. Receive permission before changing your assigned seat.
  2. Classroom Discussions: One person talks at a time, while everyone else remains silent and actively listens to the speaker. Each person waits their turn, allowing others the chance to completely express their thoughts.
  3. Food: You may eat and drink in class as long as you clean up after yourself. If you do not completely clean up your wrappers, spills or crumbs you will be denied the privilege of eating and drinking in class.
  4. Bathroom: Each day you may go to the to the bathroom in the very beginning of the class period, just tell me you are going before the bell rings. Occassionally, in an emergency you may ask to go during class.

 

Electronic Device Acceptable Use

  1. Distraction Free: Electronic devices should be silent and not cause distractions. Examples of distractions are vibrating, flashing or making any noise.
  2. Cell phones and tablets: When not being used for a teacher directed activity, cell phones will either be placed in your bag or face down on the front corner of your desk.
  3. Laptops & Chromebooks: When not being used for a teacher directed activity, computers will be closed.
  4. Appropriate Usage: Electronic devices may only be used for the purpose of participating in teacher directed activities.
  5. Show Me: When asked to "Show Me" student(s) will stop what they are doing and show the screen of their electronic device to the teacher without first touching the mouse, touchpad, or screen prior to showing the screen to the teacher.
  6. Earbuds and headphones: Listening devices are not permitted in class unless their use is indicated by the teacher. Earbuds and headphones may not be visible or simply covered by a hood or hat, this includes being worn around your neck or over your ears.
  7. Failure to comply: With the above policies will result in immediate disciplinary action.
  8. Warnings: Reviewing this policy constitutes your only warning. You have been warned!
