The Bridgewater-Raritan Language Arts Literacy Curriculum reflects the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards. It is designed to support a student-centered learning environment where each child is viewed as an individual learner within a community of readers and writers. Instruction is informed by the current research in the field of literacy and cognition. A balanced literacy approach is used to engage students in purposeful reading and writing experiences daily. These experiences are the basis from which students progress through the various states of reading and writing development which occur along a continuum.
