Welcome to first grade and the 2025/2026 school year! This year promises to be an exciting time filled with reading, writing, math, science, social studies and LEARNING!
In Language Arts, we will focus on improving our reading, writing, spelling, listening, and speaking skills. We will also be expanding our vocabulary through reading and listening. Please remember to READ every day!!! We write every morning in our morning message journals. We begin the year writing simple sentences and end the year writing paragraphs!
In Math, we will learn how to add and subtract to 100 and add and subtract 2 digit numbers with and without regrouping. We will introduce measurement, fractions, simple geometry, and time to the hour and half hour. We will also understand how to read a graph and develop some our own class graphs based on our favorite things.
