The A
BC's
 in Kindergarten

Welcome to kindergarten! We are going to have a great year together!

Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day.  Our days will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

We will learn about letter and sounds, and will be doing lots of writing activities, too.  We will also be learning about numbers and building on important math concepts including sorting, counting, reading and writing numbers, graphing, telling time to the hour, recognizing and knowing the value of coins, and solving addition and subtraction number stories.  The children are always proud of the work they create and are anxious to share their new skills.  Families can help at home by reading to and with their child daily, and encouraging them to write and draw.  Young children learn as they play, and their play is their work.

I believe that a good parent teacher relationship is necessary for maximum success.  Throughout the year I will communicate with you via notes, phone calls and emails.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child.

WHAT TO BRING TO SCHOOL:
Backpacks:
Please have your child bring a BIG enough backpack to easily hold their supplies from me and their lunchboxes. There have been times when students bags are way to small and students cannot fit their folders, art projects and library books in their bags. Rolling backpack on wheels are often cumbersome for the kinder kids.

Two Black Expo Markers: Please have your child bring two black EXPO markers to school.

Snack:Your child should bring a water bottle to school daily and a small  nut-free snack to school.

Photos: Please send in two photos of your child. It is best if the picture is ONLY of your child. No siblings or parents. One is for a project and one is for Student of the Week.

Smocks: Please send in an oversized T-shirt for a smock. This smock should come to school in a large ziploc bag with your child's name on it and will stay in their backpack daily!

Change of Clothes: If you know your child might have an accident with the bathroom, spill their snack often or jump in mud puddles feel free to keep a small change of clothes in their backpacks.

Donations are always welcome in Kindergarten! Below is a list of items that we are always in need of in our room. Of course, donations are voluntary but always appreciated!
