Homework Corner
Homework is an integral part of your child’s schooling. Completion of homework will be part of your child’s overall grade. Below please find procedures that are specific to our 3rd grade class.
- Homework will be sent home each week-night and is due back to school the following day, unless otherwise noted.
- Your child will be responsible for copying his/her homework each day into their agenda.
- Please check the agenda each night.
- Please use a pencil when completing homework.
- MATH
- Students will have a math practice sheet to complete every night to review the day's math lesson.
- Fact practice will be part of weekly homework.
- SPELLING
- Every Monday, a list of words will come home.
- Students will be held accountable for spelling these words correctly in his/her writing in class. Please practice them nightly.
- Every Friday a quiz on the words will be given. You will be notified when a quiz is coming up.
- Weekly homework will be given to practice and review words for the week. Spelling homework is due on Friday.
- SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES:
- At times there will be homework assignments to complete.
- A due date will be given for these assignments.
- Students will also be taking assessments throughout the school year.
- Study guides will be sent home prior to tests/quizzes.
- WRITING
- Writing homework will be periodically assigned.
- This could include grammar homework, conventions/mechanics practice, narrative writing, paragraph writing, etc.
- Reading
- Students will be expected to read for a minimum of 15 minutes each night and record on the log provided.
- On the log, students are to record the date, the title of the book they read, and the number of minutes read each night. After completion of these activities a parent signature is required. These assignments are considered part of their daily homework, so the log must be filled out completely including a parent signature for the assignment to be complete.
- Please make sure you are choosing "Just Right" books. Spend a few minutes talking about the book with someone at home.
Thank you in advance for helping your child become a responsible 3rd grade student!
