Math Fact Automaticity
In math we are always building on prior concepts learned. It is extremely important for each student to know their math facts with automaticity. The concepts we will be working on will increase in difficulty and knowing the math facts will help students greatly.
Here are just some ways to practice facts:
- Flash cards.
- Fact sheet/worksheet from the internet. I highly suggest one of these sites! www.mathfactcafe.com or www.mathdrills.com
- Whiteboards (drawing fact families, writing the answer to problems stated orally, etc.)
- Say the fact families out loud.
- Rainbow facts (write the facts 3 times in different colors).
- Draw the facts (draw dots for the first addend and add the number of dots from the second addend and count them for the answer)
- Math games online or from program.
- With an older sibling, babysitter, twin, friend, grandparent, etc.
- Orally in the car on the way to a sport or class
