Grading System + Class Procedures

Health Education
(Note: Health Education = one marking period or ¼ the yearly grade.)
Students will be graded according to the following criteria:
Attendance –Refer to the student handbook for regulations regarding absences. Remember that health is one quarter; therefore, you are only permitted one-fourth of the absences allowed for the year.
Absences, Field Trips, Excused from class *YOU are responsible for the work missed during your absence.
Absent the day of an ANNOUNCED TEST or QUIZ –Tests or quizzes must be made up the day you return to school at 7:00 A.M. Look for me in one of the physical education offices. Make-ups are not given during class time. If you do not see me the day you return from your missed test or quiz, I will fill in a zero as a grade and I will assume you did not want a make-up. NOTE: You are not permitted to make-up work or take tests for another class during this period!
Books –Must be covered and carried to class everyday. You are responsible for the care and condition of the textbook. You must return the book with the number given to you at the beginning of the class. The textbooks are NEW and cost $52.00. If you lose your book, you will have 5 school days to locate it; otherwise, you must pay for the lost book and a new one will be issued.
Late –Class begins when the bell rings, so be seated, quiet, and ready to begin. Being on time is important for your future college and/or workplace endeavors. Minus 5 points for each occurrence and P.M. detention. If you do not sign in late and receive a cut, I will not write a note for you!
Being Prepared –You must carry your book to class everyday unless otherwise informed. You must also bring a pen or pencil. I DO NOT PROVIDE PENCILS OR PENS FOR ANYONE.
Written Assignments –Posters, Articles, Homework, Internet Assignments, Projects, Tests, Quizzes, Exams. BE NEAT! Tests and quizzes must be done in ink, if not, the grading can not be questioned.
Health Articles –Find a health related article. Cut it out or, if from the Internet, print it and SUMMARIZE it. If taken from the Internet, give the website. All assignments must be submitted on the day scheduled, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Quizzes –May be announced or unannounced. Homework –May be checked and collected.
Grade –Grades are based on class participation, tests, quizzes, homework, projects, assignments, and attendance.
Deficiency Notices –Students who are not working to ability will receive a deficiency notice, which must be acknowledged by his/her parent or guardian.
HATS AND ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT DEVICES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THIS BUILDING AND THEREFORE ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THIS CLASSROOM EITHER! If discovered, it will be confiscated! Cell phones must be powered off and out of sight!
*YOU MAY NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM DURING THE FIRST FIVE OR LAST FIVE MINUTES OF THE PERIOD. The teachers on duty will not be ready to open the bathroom during those times.
