Grading System + Class Procedures

 

Students will be graded according to the following criteria:

 

Attendance –Refer to the student handbook for regulations regarding absences.

 

Absences, Field Trips, Excused from class- Youare responsible for the work missed during your absence.

 

Absent the day of an ANNOUNCED TEST or QUIZ–Tests or quizzes must be made up the day you return to school see me to schedule a time.  Make-ups are not given during class time. If you do not see me the day you return from your missed test or quiz, I will fill in a zero as a grade and assume you did not want a make-up.

 

Late–Class begins when the bell rings, so be seated, quiet, and ready to begin. Being on time is important for your future college and/or workplace endeavors. Minus 5 points for each occurrence and P.M. detention.

 

Being Prepared –You must bring a notebook to class everyday unless otherwise informed. You must also bring a pen or pencil. I DO NOT PROVIDE PENCILS OR PENS FOR CLASS.

 

Written Assignments –Articles, Homework, Internet Assignments, Projects, Tests, Quizzes, Exams, if appropriate, etc. BE NEAT!

 

Health Articles –Find a health related article from the Internet, print it,  SUMMARIZE it. and list the website. All assignments must be submitted on the day scheduled, NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Quizzes–May be announced or unannounced. Class work –May be checked and collected.

Grade–Grades are based on class participation, tests, quizzes, projects, assignments, and attendance.

 

* I DO NOT GIVE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS; YOUR GRADE IS BASED ON THE ABOVE CRITERIA AND WILL NOT BE NEGOTIATED.

 

Progress Reports –Students who are not working to ability will receive  the comment, not working to ability or poor effort/ no effort on his/her progress report halfway through the marking period.

HATS AND ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT AND/OR COMMUNICATION DEVICES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THIS BUILDING AND THEREFORE ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THIS CLASSROOM EITHER! If discovered, it will be confiscated and returned to you at the end of class!

 

*YOU MAY NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM DURING THE FIRST FIVE OR LAST FIVE MINUTES OF THE PERIOD. The teachers on duty will not be ready to open the bathroom during those times.
