GRADING POLICY-
The goal of Mr. Kirby's courses is to aid students in being able to effectively communicate using Spanish. Focussed attention is paid to give students the opportunity to develop the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In order to accomplish this goal, Mr. Kirby's classes are highly interactive and positive classroom participation is extremely important for maximizing learning for the entire class.
With this in mind, Mr. Kirby's marking period grades will be determined as follows:
• 100% Summative Assessments: Announced Quizzes, Projects, Tests
Explanation-
Quizzes will be given either announced or in order to monitor mastery that is made within a unit.
A Test and/or Project will be given at the end of every unit of study to assess mastery of the unit material. Students will be notified ahead of time when a Test will take place, or when a Project is due. All Projects will be explained in detail and students will receive a grading rubric during the presentation of the assessment so that the grading expectations are clear for the assignment.
A cumulative Benchmark Exam will be given at the end of the course to assess course content mastery.
