Need to Know:

Daily Homework Folder (PURPLE):

Each student has a daily homework folder.  If papers are on the "keep at home", please take them out and keep them at home.  If papers on the "return to school", these need to be read and/or signed and sent back to school.  Please check this folder every night.  All graded papers, notes, reminders, calendars, etc. will be in this folder.

Grades:

(1) Grades will be posted in Powerschool weekly. A paper copy of most tests and quizzes will not be sent home. You will be able to view graded assignments through the platform they were administered (Google Classroom, OnCourse, etc.)

(2) A zero ("0") will appear in Powerschool if your child does not complete a graded assignment. The grade will remain a "0" until the work is complete and turned in. It is your child's responsibility to complete missed assignments. I do my best to remind them about missing work, but I do not hunt down grades.

Weekly Test Folder: There is NO weekly test folder. Graded papers will be sent home in the purple folder. Please check PowerSchool as grades will be updated weekly. You will be able to view graded assignments through the platform they were administered (Google Classroom, OnCourse, etc.)

Planners:

Each student has received a ESE planner. This is where your child's homework and daily conduct will be recorded.  Students in fifth grade will receive marks for behavior (talking, disrupting, not following directions, etc.), which will be written in the behavior chart. Please initial your child's behavior chart (even if it is blank) each night so we know you are aware of their behavior in class each day.

Absences:

Please send your child to school everyday. I know unplanned situations can arise, but it is attendance is of utmost importance in order for your child to be successful in 5th grade.

Make-Up Work:

It is the student's responsibility to get their make up from me. Most assignments are posted in Google Classroom. If your child is absent, the work they need to complete is available on line.

Conferences:

If you would like to schedule a conference with Mrs. Melancon, Mrs. Simek and/or myself, please email one or all of us.  We may request to have a conference with you.  Please remember conferences are not "bad", but are just another form of communication. All conferences will take place in morning at 7:45.
