  • Look in his/her agenda daily This is a great way to check on homework and stay in contact with their teacher.
  • Read for 10-20 minutes every nightYou can partner read, echo read, or each read a book of your own and share what you read.   It is awesome for your student to see you read, you are the most influential person in your child's life.
  • Start a family libraryLet your child have his/her own book case or shelf for their books.  Students can sort books by genre (subject).
  • Cook with your childReading recipes is a great way to work on both reading and math.  You could let your child plan a menu one night.
  • Make a list of things you are thankful for.
  • Talk about the ages of the people in your family.  There is a lot that can be done with these numbers.  They can be compared, added, subtracted, averaged....
  • Skip Count.  Sing and dance counting by 2s, 5s, 10s.
