Greetings to Parents and Students!

On this web page, you will find posted homework and other assignments.  These assignments are also posted on the board daily providing the students an opportunity to record them in their assignment books and to make sure they are in their Language Arts folder.  I appreciate you checking this homepage for assignments.  You will also find a majority of our classroom readings on this website.  It can be accessed here and read anytime.  Most of our stories are online in Actively Learn which can be found by logging into Clever.  We will also be utilizing Commonlit.  All the links are on the right side of this page.  They are good resources to utilize.

This year I am utilizing the Remind app.  I have sent home a paper with your child on how to sign up.  I hope to see more parents sign up.  It is a great way to stay in touch with your child's class.  I will be posting daily homework as well as important due dates.  They will all come to your cell phone.  If you haven't gotten a paper with a sign-up code from your child please contact me and I will send it home to you again.

7th Grade

Students will start the school year off by reading short stories.  Some of the stories include "Seventh Grade", "The Landlady", "The Lamb of Slaughter", "The Raven", "The Tell-Tale Heart", "Annabel Lee", plus others.  Students will also read the story "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.  Students will be completing a Christmas Around the World project by utilizing Google Slides in January.  They will also be reading about different civil rights leaders and Brown vs. Board.  They will create another Google Slide presentation in February relating to a civil rights leader of their choice.  March/April students will be preparing to take the NJSLA which occurs in May.   In addition, the students will be exposed to a variety of paired texts and discuss their narrative structure.  During the 4th marking period, the novel The Outsiders will be read and discussed.  Google Classroom will be utilized in this class.

Writing is also heavily stressed in these courses.  Students will be exposed to persuasive, narrative, and expository writing.  All essays will be graded holistically.  Grammar lessons are also incorporated into writing assignments.  Every week students will be given open-ended questions to further prepare them for the NJSLA.  The open-ended questions will also be graded holistically.
