 About me as a Teacher:

  • This is my 21st year of teaching (and of teaching ELA). I am an ELA teacher through and through!

  • I graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1998 and Louisiana Tech University summa cum laude in 2001.
  • I have been teaching at Juban since the school opened in August 2010. I was Juban's 2013 Teacher of the Year.

About my Family:

  • I have a wonderful husband Aaron whom I married on the anniversary of our first date, April 5. I know he loves me because he keeps taking me back to Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

  • We have a great family with our sons Warner who turns seven this September and Ellis who turns four in September as well. They are three years and three days apart in age.

 About my Other Things:

  • I am a vegan that loves Greek food, the smell of Scotch tape, riding bikes, reading, and doing any type of puzzle.

  • My birthday is January 4. The Walking Dead, The Mindy Project, and New Girl are my favorite TV shows, and Mulan and Beauty and the Beast are my favorite Disney movies.

  • You can find me listening to a wide variety of music: instrumental music from movies and Disney songs, as well as my favorite bands Mumford and Sons, George Strait, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Cage the Elephant, and The Killers. Olives and pretzels are my favorite snacks, and I love lemon squares and bread pudding, especially the kind made by my grandma.

  • I have two favorite types of books: young adult and British classics from the 19th century! I love to read! After all, reading is for awesome people. =) I love to read so much that my wedding bouquet was actually made from pages of my favorite books!

  • I have a HUGE passion for Harry Potter and Hunger Games (I reread both every Christmas holiday)! One look around my classroom, and you will see how true this is. According to J.K. Rowling's sorting hat quiz on Pottermore, I belong in Ravenclaw with those who believe in intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit.
