The Seven Minute Paragraph

Purpose:  No longer is it the job of English teachers alone to prepare students to write --it is the job of all teachers in all subjects.In Social Studies this involves substantiating theses, organizing responses with examples, and drawing conclusions. 

 

• all of my classes are going to have at least one reading and one writing assignment each week
• some of this work will be graded and some will not BUT it will all be reviewed
• goals are to

• write clear theses

  substantiate theses

  improve handwriting

  incorporate a broad variety of sentence structure

  broaden vocabulary

  organize all writing

  use examples to substantiate

  draw sound conclusions
