 MISCELLANEOUS INFO:

- Grading scale is 93-100 A, 85-92 B, 75-84 C, 66-74 D, 0-65 F
- All evaluated assignments are to be filed in student's English binder.

- Teacher’s grade book is the official record of grade, unless a student has a graded assignment to prove a discrepancy. This is the logic behind keeping grades assignments in English binder.
- Parish guidelines are followed for absences and tardies.
- During roll call, please be attentive and respond clearly and loudly so that Ms. Hart may mark you present for the class period.
- It is your responsibility to ask the teacher what took place the day/days of your absence.
- Schedule missed quizzes/tests/assignment on the day you return to school from absence.
- It is imperative that a student gives Ms. Hart his/her full attention, full cooperation, and full participation, and also have a hunger for knowledge every minute of every hour while with Ms. Hart. Most material is covered in class through discussion and participation. Most material to be comprehended is evaluated IMMEDIATELY following the lesson’s ending. All knowledge is expected to be retained throughout the semester, and hopefully, your lifetime. All assignments build on each other.

- Parish uses the SpringBoard CollegeBoard program. A SpringBoard textbook is issued to each student.  This textbook is consumable, which means the student will be asked to write in the book and perhaps upon completing a task in the book, tear the page(s) out to be evaluated by teacher.

Tutoring or Assistance with a Lesson or Assignment:  Ms. Hart is available for tutoring/assistance on Tuesdays after school; however, if the student needs another day after school, then ask.  If Ms. Hart does not have something to do, then she does not mind agreeing on another day.  Also, a student may come during Activity Period with a note.

Home Learning (a.k.a. Homework) – Teacher highly encourages every student to reread material read and discussed each day. Teacher highly encourages making flashcards for literary elements, poetic devices, academic vocabulary, and literary terms for homework as all elements, devices, concepts, and writing skills discussed and practiced build on each other and will be considered prior knowledge once covered and may be assessed periodically.

SpringBoard Novel Reading is an INDEPENDENT task as a whole. Teacher highly encourages every student to set time aside for tasks assigned with novel, such as getting signatures, etc. and for weekly reading assignments. Reading assignments are expected to be read prior to assigned date. Assigned novel should be brought to class every day to read if free time becomes available.

Mug Shots are bell ringers for Ms. Hart’s class. Ms. Hart goes over mug shots every day after students have had a chance to find edits.  If a student is following the lesson, he or she should have all the correct answers.  There is no reason for him or her not to if he or she is paying attention to the lesson.
