Notetaking
Conversation: There should be no talking while we are taking notes.
Help: Raise your hand if you need help. If you are working on a problem and I am helping another student, wait until I finish helping the student that I am with to raise your hand. Continue to work while you wait.
Activity: We will be taking notes from lectures and powerpoints.
Movement: There shouldn’t be any movement while I am teaching. If you need to sharpen your pencil or get a textbook, you should do so once you come into the classroom.
Participation: I will know that you are participating by having your notebook open while you are writing the notes into the notebook.
 
Classwork
Conversation: You may talk with someone in a seat next to you. While you are working, you should only talk about that material that is being covered.
Help: Raise your hand if you need help. If you are working on a problem and I am helping another student, wait until I finish helping the student that I am with to raise your hand. Continue to work while you wait. You may also ask a classmate seated near you.
Activity: You will be working on an assignment from the textbook or on a worksheet.
Movement: While we are completing our classwork, you may get out of your seat to sharpen your pencil or throw trash away. Return to your desk immediately.
Participation: I will know that you are participating by having your textbook or worksheet on your desk and you are writing on the assignment.
 
Student Presentations
Conversation: There should be no talking while other students are presenting.
Help: Raise your hand if you have a question. Time will be reserved for discussions.
Activity: You will be providing or listening to other presentations during class.
Movement: There should not be any movement during student presentations. Please be respectful and stay in your seat.
Participation: I will know that you are participating by your attentive behavior and by the presentation that you will provide to the class.
 
Tests/Quizzes
Conversation: There will be no talking during tests and quizzes. Remember that there are other students who may be working.
Help: Raise your hand if you need help. If you are working on a problem and I am helping another student, wait until I finish helping the student that I am with to raise your hand. Continue to work while you wait.
Activity: You will be taking a test or quiz.
Movement: There will not be any movement while you are testing. If you need to sharpen your pencil or get a textbook, you should do so once you come into the classroom.
Participation: I will know that you are participating by having your test or quiz on your desk as you work on the test or quiz.
 
Cooperative Learning
Conversation: You may talk within your group and at a level that only your group members may hear you. While you are working, you should only talk about that material that is being covered.
Help: Check with your face or shoulder partner to get help. If no one within your group can answer the question, then all 4 group members should raise their hand to notify me that you need help.
Activity: We will be using a variety of structures while working within groups of 4 to complete a task or assignment.
Movement: During our cooperative learning assignments, I will designate which group members should get up to collect the assigned materials. Unless you are told to do otherwise, stay at your desk.
Participation: I will know that you are participating by having the assigned materials out at your desk while you talk with your group.
 
I have read the syllabus and the above expectations for each activity and will acknowledge and follow them in class.
