Over the course of the school year, we complete three units where we read an Anchor Text (main text) and supplemental texts to learn and master various skills to prepare for state assessments. We also complete one application unit based on one of our texts. In 5th grade, our units are as follows:

 

1. The Birchbark House (August 12 - October 10)

2. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe ( October 20 - January 9)

3. Shutting Out the Sky (January 12 - March 13)

4. Application Unit (March 16 - April 17)
