Welcome to 7th/8th Grade Math!
My Name is Ms. Weston, and I am thrilled to be your child’s math teacher for the upcoming school year. I am from LaPlace, LA and the oldest of 3 children. I enjoy running my dance studio and teaching students. I have been teaching math for 2 years and I am excited to bring experience and enthusiasm into our classroom. I am passionate about mathematics and dedicated to creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every student can succeed. I believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive community where students feel valued, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential!
As we embark on this new school year together, I have set some overall goals for myself and our students:
- Promote a Growth Mindset: I aim to instill in students the belief that intelligence and abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. We will embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and learn from our mistakes.
- Foster Mathematical Fluency: My goal is for students to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and procedures, enabling them to solve problems with confidence and accuracy.
- Encourage Critical Thinking: I will provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful mathematical discourse, analyze problems from multiple perspectives, and develop logical reasoning skills.
- Cultivate a Positive Classroom Culture: I strive to create a classroom environment where all students feel respected, supported, and valued. Collaboration, kindness, and empathy will be emphasized as we work together to achieve our goals.
