Welcome!
My name is Mr. Sanchez, and I am thrilled to be your ELA teacher this year! As your English teacher, my goal is to help students develop a love for reading and writing. Both of these disciplines are inextricably linked with the different ways that we—as people—engage with the world around us. My goal as your teacher is to empower you to engage more critically with this immsenely important field In my course, I hope to challenge you and help you develop a stronger love for the humanities. While doing this, I hope to facilitate a community where you feel safe to learn and connect with one another—because at the end of the day, reading and writing is about human connection.
In the spirit of bolstering community and connection, here is some more information about me. My name is Michael Sanchez, and I grew up in West New York, NJ. I attended private school from Kindergarten through 8th grade and later attended Memorial High School which I graduated from in 2019 as the valedictorian. As a student, I was an avid runner and the bass section leader in the select choir. I graduated from Yale University in 2023 where I was an Education Studies scholar and majored in English, also receiving a certificate in Medieval Studies along the way. Outside of school, I greatly enjoy creative writing, backpacking, and trying out new coffee shops!
