Course Description: In French I Honors, students are introduced to the five C’s of foreign language learning: communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities.  Students will learn the fundamental structures of the language by engaging in brief conversations, directed dialogues, and a variety of oral activities.  In addition, short reading passages, aural comprehension, writing activities, and grammar are integral components of the program.  Technology and other sources serve as useful, creative, and motivating tools to build language proficiency and cultural understanding.

 

Objectives/Goals: The Five C’s of Foreign Language Education.

  1. Communication – Communicate in Languages Other Than English
  2. Cultures – Gain Knowledge and Understanding of Other Cultures
  3. Connections – Connect with Other Disciplines and Acquire Information
  4. Comparisons – Develop Insight into the Nature of Language and Culture
  5. Communities – Participate in Multilingual Communities at Home and Around the World

  1. Bell work (Beginning of Class)
  2. Class work (Worksheets)
  3. Activities (Group/Individual/Games)
  4. Participation (Attendance)
  5. Homework (Google Classroom)
  6. Exit tickets (End-of-Class)
  7. Quizzes (In class/Google Classroom)
  8. Exams (Mid-terms and Finals)

 

 

Grading Scale:

 

100 – 90 A

89 – 80 B

79 – 70 C

69 – 60 D

59 – 0 F
