To join Band, you must first be in the upcoming 4th grade - 8th grade and then fill out a Band Registration form. I will be introducing myself in the classrooms so that students may learn about the opportunities of being in instrumental music and the instrument choices at the beginning and end of the school year. 

 

 

 

Once students sign up to participate and fill out a Band Registration form:REGISTRATION FORM

The student will be assigned to an instrument and given instructions on how to acquire their assigned instrument, music stand and a lesson book (Standard of Excellence).

 

There are three ways to acquire an instrument. First, you can rent an instrument from Elephante. A rental form will be distributed to each interested student in September. Or, you can go to the Elefante Website (elefantemusic.com) or you may call them at 908-464-5928. Second, you can borrow an instrument from a family member or family friend, or buy your own. You will want to be sure that the instrument is in good playing condition. Ms. Wilhelm can help to assess the playing condition of the instrument if needed. Third, Ms. Wilhelm has an assortment of school district owned instruments that can be loaned to a student, as there are only a few, they are available on a first come, first served basis.

 

Once students receive their instrument, students will begin to attend one group lesson during the week. These lessons will take place during the school day, so there are no before or after school obligations. The schedule will be completed once students have signed up for instrumental music, and more details will be given out prior to lessons starting. They will also attend one Full Band Rehearsal every Tuesday Morning of the Week.
