Spanish II 

 

Course Description:

This course develops the skills that were introduced in Spanish I. Students are encourage to express themselves in the target language by practicing not only the writing and reading skills but conversational skills. About 75-80% of the class will be conducted in Spanish. The course will also continue to expose students to different cultural aspects of the Hispanic society. This Spanish unit will create a brief summary and hit on the aspects of Spanish I that need to be reinforced so that the students can continue with the language. Mastery of the Spanish I review will allow students to continue with confidence to the next level. Students will need to know how to use and correlate their facts so that conversation and written expression can occur. Students to move forward and to build on their previous knowledge of the language. The students will follow the normal progression adding to their subject with parts of the grammar that expand their vocabulary base and their concept of the language.

 

Expectations and Classroom rules:

Maintaining a good study environment is very important. Please read the classroom rules carefully. 

 

   1. Everyone's health is a priority:

  • MASKS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES (INDOORS/OUTDOORS) due to COVID-19.
  • No more than one student at a time is allowed to go to the bathroom.
  • Materials (pencils, pens, papers, notebooks, etc.) cannot be shared. Each student should come to the classroom with their own supplies.

 

   2. How you should get to the classroom:

  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn- acquiring a language requires a positive attitude and a desire to learn. It is very important that the student comes to the classroom with the best attitude and desire to learn.
  • Each student can choose the table where they want to sit. However, if the student shows that he/she is having difficulty focusing in the  class, he/she will be moved at the teacher's discretion.

 

   3. Materials:

  • iPad- charged
  • Notebook
  • Pencil, pen

 

   4. Respect:  We are all responsible for maintaining a proper atmosphere for learning. To         achieve this, we must maintain a high level of respect at all times.

  • Students will refer to each other by their names, offensive nicknames will not be allowed under any circumstances
  • Students will raise their hands to talk.
  • Students will speak one at the time respecting other student’s point of view.

   

   5. Electronic devices:

  • IPads are necessary to complete classroom work and assignments/work that will be posted in Google Classroom.
  • Cell phones – Use of cell phones are NOT allowed in the classroom unless authorized by the teacher for educational use only.
  • Earbuds and headphones are NOT allowed unless authorized by the teacher.

 

   6. LATENESS TO CLASSES:

  • Students must be on time in the classroom.

 

   7. Homework:

  • Assignments must be turned in on time or they will not receive complete credit.
  • All electronic assignments must be submitted through Google classroom.
  • Assignments send it to my email will not be graded.
  • Students are responsible for all material covered during his/her absence.

 

   8. Class participation is very important for a second language acquisition.

  • Test, quizzes, homeworks, projects and class participation will determine the final grade.

 

   9. Consequences for rules violations:

         First offense – verbal warning

         Second offense – administrative discipline referral and phone call home

I am always willing to provide extra help to students or meet with a parent as needed.
