Homework will be sent home in your child's folder. Feel free to assist your child, but please do not write or draw for your child. Allow them to be proud of their work and encourage them to simply do their best! Part of Kindergarten is helping your child grow as a productive citizen. We will also have some skills that can be practiced at home as part of homework!

The most important academic activity that you can do with your child each day is to read together. Please spend at least 15 minutes each night reading with your child!

Your child’s daily folder is very important. It will contain a behavior calendar, homework, newsletters, and is also a means of parent/teacher communication. There will also be important data on your student’s progress. Please be sure to check this daily to stay “in the know” and sign it to show you have seen it.

  •  Weekly Newsletter: Each week the newsletter will include important dates, events, and what we are learning in our classroom.

  •  Behavior Calendar: In a middle sleeve will be the calendar that should be signed daily and remain in their folder. We use a point system in class which students can earn for positive choices. When your child has a good day they will receive a star on their calendar. If there is a behavior issue during the day a note will be sent home in the folder explaining the issue.

  •  Communication Form: This is a great place to write me a quick note and I will be sure to respond!

  •  Letter ID and Sight Words: These are the building blocks of your child’s success in Kindergarten! I will keep an up to date assessment of your child’s letter and sight word knowledge. This is a great place for you to see your child grow and see areas we need to work on!
