Day 2- Who is Alice Paul? Reading and questions

Using the following website, https://www.alicepaul.org/who-was-alice-paul/ answer the questions. You will need to utilize all of the tabs to find the information. 

 

Day 3- “Women Who Spoke Up” reading and questions

You will be reading articles from Commonlit.org. There will be reading check questions throughout, which will cause parts of the article to be blurred out. Once you have completed the reading, there will be 5 more questions to answer. The directions on how to access your account are attached to this packet, or posted on classroom. 

 

Day 4- “MALALA YOUSAFZAI’S ADDRESS TO THE UNITED NATIONS, JULY 2013” reading and questions

You will be reading a second article from Commonlit.org. This is set up the same way the one from yesterday was. This article is a bit more difficult and requires a reaction, so you have two days to complete it. 

 

Day 5- Continue working on the article about Malala Yousafzai.

If you did not complete the reading questions, complete them today. In addition, answer the following questions in a minimum of 4 sentences. 

 

  1. In the context of Malala Yousafzai’s life and speech, what does it mean to be brave? Cite evidence from the text in your answer. 

  2. According to Malala Yousafzai, what is the purpose of education? To what extent do you agree with her claim? Cite evidence from the text and your own education in your answer. 

  3. Malala discusses how the Taliban perceives women during her speech. This perception may appear very different from how women are viewed in America, but it could be argued that there are similarities between how some Americans and some Pakistanis view the roles of women. What claim would a person make to prove this point?

 

Day 6-10- Women’s History Month Project

You will be completing a Women’s History Month Project. You will be assigned 2 women, one will be from a different country and one you will select from a specific page on the Women’s Hall of Fame website. You are to complete the attached worksheet on both of your assigned women. You can use the following websites only
