Class Rules and Expectations
-First and foremost, you must respect yourself and your classmates. There will only be one person speaking at any given time. Inappropriate behavior will result in consequences. We keep our hands to ourselves in this classroom.
-Be prepared for class. This means you must have a notebook and a folder. Notebooks will be regularly checked for a quiz grade. Cell phone use will not be permitted in class, unless otherwise stated by the teacher.
-Assignments are due the day they are due. I have a three late day policy, with accomodations as needed. If you are having trouble completing an assignment, please let me know IMMEDIATELY.
-Current Events are due twice a month. The date of the article must be within a month of the date you are handing the article in. 90% of the time you can choose the article topic, however I may require a specific topic to be done depending on what is going on in the world at that time. You have until the end of the month to hand both in.
-If you are absent it is your responsibility to get what you missed. Missing notes means lower notebook quiz grades. If you are out two days you have two days to get the notes. Make-up quizzes and tests again must be made up within the same time frame.
-Tests and quizzes are 80% from class notes and the rest from handouts and text material. Nothing will be on a test or a quiz if we have not previously discussed it in class.
-Extra credit: You will be given extra credit opportunities throughout the year. Extra credit will not take the place of regular assignments.
-If you are late to class more than three times you will get teacher detention. Do not be late. If you skip class you will be written up. If you skip class the day of a quiz, text, or presentation you will be given a zero for that assignment, as well as being written up.
Grades
The following items will make up your marking period grades. Each making period will be a little different so you may have more quizzes one making period and more tests another. The same amount of extra credit will be given each making period. Grades will be based on a point system.
